The Czech Cegelec subsidiary focuses on the development, design, production, assembly, testing, commissioning and services of electrical, electronic and mechanical components for traction vehicules. The services and products provided particularly concern tramways, trolley buses, metro cars and wayside installations related to traction power. The solution designed in Cegelec Prague offices offers many advantages:
- refurbishment can extend the service life or tramcars by 15 years
- its cost is only one third of the cost of a new rolling stock
- no need of maintenance
- an electric energy consumption reduced by 30-40 % average.
Most recently, Cegelec developed a new attractive solution to its existing rolling stock upgrade offering. The Group started rebuilding existing tramcars into a low-floor version that particularly mothers with children and impaired passengers appreciate.
The success of its technological solution is evidenced by the number of projects Cegelec has won in Germany, Sweden, Russia, Slovakia, the Ukraine. Last December, Cegelec reached the ceiling of 1,000 tramcars refurbished using its genuine traction converter technology. The Group deployed its cost-saving system in 17 countries worldwide and tramcars or trolley buses using its equipment run in no less than 45 cities in Europe.
