After originally building the catenaries for the first section of the Korea Train eXpress (KTX), South Korea’s high-speed rail system, Cegelec signed in 2007 a new engineering and procurement contract to provide an additional 130 km of catenaries for the extension of this network, to be operational by 2010. This time, while a local company will deal with the erection of the catenaries, Cegelec was called because of its particular expertise in meeting the complex constraints of overhead lines for high-speed trains. The contract includes design work as well as the provision and performance of conformity tests for all critical equipment required.
