Cegelec has developed an economic and environmentally-friendly solution to the modernisation of a potential market of 1,500 tramcars, trolleybuses and metro cars. Life of vehicles still in good working order may be extended by around 15 years. The total absence of mechanical contact means that the equipment provided by Cegelec requires no maintenance work and reduces energy consumption by 30 to 40% on average. In Prague alone, more than 300 vehicles have been fitted with Cegelec DC drives since 2004.
